The X - ray Transient XTE J 2012 + 381

چکیده
We present optical and infrared observations of the soft X-ray transient (SXT) XTEJ2012+381 and identify the optical counterpart with a faint red star heavily blended with a brighter foreground star. The fainter star is coincident with the radio counterpart and appears to show weak Hα emission and to have faded between observations. The RXTE/ASM lightcurve of XTE J2012+381 is unusual for an SXT in that after an extended linear decay, it settled into a plateau state for about 40 days before undergoing a weak mini-outburst. We discuss the nature of the object and suggest similarities to long orbital period SXTs.

The black hole candidate XTE J1752−223 towards and in quiescence: optical and simultaneous X-ray–radio observations
We present optical, X-ray and radio observations of the black hole transient (BHT) XTE J1752−223 towards and in quiescence. Optical photometry shows that the quiescent magnitude of XTE J1752−223 is fainter than 24.4 mag in the i′ band. A comparison with measurements of the source during its 2009–2010 outburst shows that the outburst amplitude is more than 8 mag in the i′ band. Known X-ray prope...
متن کاملInitial low / hard state , multiple jet ejections and X - ray / radio correlations during the outburst of XTE J 1859 + 226
We have studied the 1999 soft X-ray transient outburst of XTE J1859+226 at radio and X-ray wavelengths. The event was characterised by strong variability in the disc, corona and jet – in particular, a number of radio flares (ejections) took place and seemed well-correlated with hard X-ray events. Apparently unusual for the canonical ‘soft’ X-ray transient, there was an initial period of low/har...
متن کاملThe SMC X - ray transient XTE J 0111 . 2 – 7317 : a Be / X - ray binary in a SNR ?
We report observations which confirm the identity of the optical/IR counterpart to the Rossi X-ray Timing Explorer transient source XTE J0111.2–7317. The counterpart is suggested to be a B0-B2 star (luminosity class III–V) showing an IR excess and strong Balmer emission lines. The distance derived from reddening and systemic velocity measurements puts the source in the SMC. Unusually, the sourc...
متن کاملXTE J1739–302 as a Supergiant Fast X-ray Transient
XTE J1739–302 is a transient X-ray source with unusually short outbursts, lasting on the order of hours. Here we give a summary of X-ray observations we have made of this object in outburst with the Rossi X-ray Timing Explorer (RXTE) and at a low level of activity with the Chandra X-ray Observatory, as well as observations made by other groups. Visible and infrared spectroscopy of the mass dono...
متن کاملThe discovery and study of the optical counterparts of the transient X – ray pulsars RX J 0052 . 1 – 7319 and XTE J 0111 . 2 – 7317 in the SMC ⋆
We report on the discovery and confirmation of the optical counterparts of the two transient X–ray pulsars, RX J0052.1–7319 and XTE J0111.2–7317. In the narrow (∼3 ′′ radius) X–ray error circle of RX J0052.1– 7319 we found a V = 14.6 (B − V = 0.1) 09.5IIIe (a classification as a B0Ve star is also possible, since the luminosity class depends on the uncertainty on the adopted reddening). Medium r...
